How To Use
This zine is designed to be used for a single-session adventure. If using this adventure for a one-shot, the players should know that they have been hired by a noble landowner to find the missing couple.
If this adventure is used as part of a larger campaign, the adventurers may have a connection to the landowner, such as patronage or by finding a posting on a job board.
Thousands of years ago, the island of Aeaea was inhabited by the goddess Circe, known for her vast knowledge of potions and herbs. She had famously little patience, and would transform her guests into wild boars for the most insignificant acts of misconduct. For reasons unknown, she left the island and her imprisoned boars behind. As time went on, knowledge of the island and Circe faded into obscurity.
That is, up until recently.
The island was rediscovered by a rich noble, who assumed that, aside from the wildlife, the island was uninhabited. He set up a small villa near the shore and now runs “escape from the city” excursions for other aristocrats. Guests are set up with basic amenities for picnics and rustic meals, provided by the in-residence servant.
A pair of rich newlyweds decided spent their honeymoon on the island. Being young and adventurous, they ventured into the island’s forest for a more private picnic.
They never returned.
To resume his operations, the rich noble has hired the players to investigate the disappearance.
